Assuring learning excellence and readiness for a changing world

Welcome to Central Schools. I am excited and honored to begin my first year as the principal of the Mankato Area Learning Center. I have been in District 77 for the past three years as Assistant Principal at Mankato West and was the 7-12 Principal at LCWM school for two years prior to that.

The Mankato Area Learning Center is the Alternative Learning Program for Mankato and the surrounding area. We offer students a choice in their education. Alternative learning programs incorporate innovative strategies to achieve results for students to thrive outside of the traditional education environment. The many benefits of alternative education include:

  • Engaged faculty

  • Low student to teacher ratio

  • Focus on respect and trust between student and teacher

  • Positive Behavioral Supports

  • Chemical health counseling

  • Teenage pregnancy and parenting classes

  • A Continual Learning Plan for each student

Students interested in attending Central High School or Central Freedom School need to meet with their school guidance counselor to explore this option.  Once a student has made a decision to attend the Mankato Area Learning Center, the home school guidance counselor will make a referral and an intake meeting will be scheduled.

At Central High School and Central Freedom School, the staff is committed to assuring learning excellence and readiness for our students to enter a changing world.
